Empowerment is indeed a powerful driver - not only to increase effectiveness, but also to improve morale and therefore reduce costs through a reduced staff turnover.

Mission Command - a military leadership style used by the UK and US armed forces, is effective empowerment through, amongst other things, decentralized decision making. This concept enables teams to react rapidly to changing circumstances whilst still acheiving out the intent of their superiors.

Mission Command has much to offer commercial organizations - not least in times of change and increasing trends towards remote working. I commend it to you and suggest Google Knol or www.missioncommand.org.uk or a Google search, perhaps on Pfzier's introduction of the concept?

Great sit, excellent resource - thank you.
